Since he had only used it a few times before I sent him packing, he opted not to take it with him. The unit is in great condition and has the user's manual, hose, power cord and carrying case. There are no masks. If interested, please email me @ jimandangie06@verizon.net. $250 will cover unit and shipping. Thanks everyone! 0 CPAP for sale 2008-03-12

I would like any information on how to change the Pressure settings on a Respironics Solo Plus Machine. My first respironics was easy just take off the top and the adjustments up/down were there and a person could change them as needed. I started with a 13 CM and then as I started excersize I was able to lower it to 11 CM. Then after 11 years the machine died. I now have two machines just in case. There are a number of places on the Web to find used machines the trick is to find one that you can figure out how to adjust the pressure. Common sense helps as well. Thanks for any help you can give me. 0 Billyjack 2008-01-18

My hasband has been prescibed a CPAP machine by his dr. The only thing listed in the RX is CPAP with humidifer. Setting 9cm. Well they MAILED him a Remstar Plus (without C flex). Which I beleive is the bottom of the line Cpap machine for Responics. His Dr. promised it would be small as we travel a lot. Well this unit is not small. It measures about the size of a shoe box (w/humidifier) and weights over 5 pounds. It also does not have the C-flex feature whcih we beleive will help him on his exhale. Since the insurance company gave him the machine (he is not renting) is it unlikly he will be able to get another unit. Anyone have any experience with the c flex technology as well as delaing witht he insurance company? I love the units with the smart card as I can see a great benefit to sharing the information with our doctor (who BTW is 2 hours away). Any comments? 1 S&K 2007-10-05

Anyone know how to adjust the pressure setting on the respironics Solo? 0 respironics solo 2007-09-20
I have a ResMed s7 lightweight. When I go into the clinician settings (pressing the down and right arrows at the same time) I am able to access the initial pressure setting (which I can adjust up to 8.0 cm h20 and was set at 6.4 cm h20 by the sleep clinic) and pressure gain setting (which indicates 8.0 cm h20 and is bracketed with parentheses, i.e. "(8.0)"). What I am trying to find out is how to change the pressure gain setting "(8.0)" to something higher or lower. This appears to be locked at 8.0 cm. Anyone? 1 djb101 2007-09-18

REMStar Pro M Series problem, any suggestions? This is a new machine to replace worn out previous brand. It creates really significant radio interference that makes it impossible to listen to any weaker radio stations. Like other sleep troubled people, late night radio is important to me, and now appears to be impossible. AC or battery power radio makes no difference, distance from machine to radio limited by hose length. Any suggestions? 1 Nick 2007-09-07

Is anyone else but me upset at the new TSA security rules that require CPAP users who travel to put our machines (out of it's case in the bins to be x-rayed. Do you realize how filty those bins are. Someone who just walked through a puddle of urine in the public restroom could have just put their shoes in the same bin that TSA is asking you to place your machine. Think of the thousands of dirty hands have touched that bin in one day! How come we Apnea users being subjected to risky / higher heath risks than our fellow travellers. The rule will not change unless we contact the TSA, the airlines we use and our congressional representatives. Have we already forgotten the traveller that got on an airplane with TB! ... Just checking to see if anybody else is having problems with the Respironics Comfort Gel masks breaking where you clip the straps to the mask? I've gone through three of these masks now in the space of a year, and when I look at the mask I think there's a structural flaw in the design. It looks like the clear plastic tabs (where you clip in the strap) aren't strong enough and they need to be reinforced. Am I the only one having this problem or are there others out there? I just broke another one on Monday night. 1 Ak_Oosikman 2007-08-09

I've been using the Respironics ComfertGel mask for the past year, and I've had two of them break on me where the strap connects to the mask (under the nose). What's happening is the plastic tabs that hold the clip on the strap need to be reinforced, because they break down too fast. First the tabs get flimsy and won't hold the strap tightly, then they break and won't hold the strap at all. My first one broke after eight months and my second mask broke after less than three months. I like the fit of the mask, but don't like how quick they break down. Has anybody else had similar problems with the ComfortGel masks (item 1009043)? 4 Ak_Oosikman 2007-03-13
Hello my name is Gary, I am a 43 yr old male... I have been on an auto cpap machine for 5 nights as of 2/16/07 still waking up ? My pressure in the sleep study was 14cm, doctor said in sleep study report that at this pressure I was sleep apnea free ? My question is relating to how I feel in the morning... I feel very groggy through out the day sense being on cpap ? Am I just adjusting after years of poor sleep ? I feel like I have had a sleeping pill the next morning ? My machine is a res-med vantage auto, res-med full face, mirage mask. Please advise... How long does it take body to adjust fully to cpap therapy ? Thanks... Gary 1 Bluetocker 2007-02-16

I use a Fisher & Paykel FlexiFit 431 Full Face CPAP Mask and like previous members here paid an outrageous amount for it. When I bought it I bought a full spare mask. Both came with 3 cushions, 1 small, 1 med and 1 large. Only the medium cushion fits, and my supplier won't trade me mediums for the other two. Is anyone else in a similar situation? and possibly interested in trading cushions? 0 Pete 2006-10-26
Falling asleep with cpap. I started with a full face mask. Tried for 6 weeks but could never fall asleep. Switched to Mirage Swift Nasal Pillows. If I can get to sleep once then even when I wake up, it's no problem to go right back to sleep. About one night out of seven or eight I am able to get to sleep the first try. Usually, I try for 30 minutes to an hour then get up. I can sleep without cpap sitting up in a chair for an hour or so. Then I try again. Tonight, as is frequently the case, I've tried three times and find myself at the computer at 345am. Before I get to sleep the first time, it's as though I can't get enough breath. After I've been asleep and awaken for a bathroom run, it's like I can't get it back on quick enough, a real treat. I'm less than three months into this venture, but must get past it. The other option is awakening 91 times per hour. Are sleeping pills my only answer? 1 Roustabout 2006-10-16
Hi, I have been using my Remstar Plus for two years with a pressure of 16 quite successfully. Lately I have been waking up gasping for air while using it, although not as often or as bad as I do when I fall asleep before putting the mask on. That would lead me to believe that I now need a higher pressure. However, I have just lost 100 pounds so I was expecting to need a lower pressure at some point in the near future. I was wondering, could waking up gasping for air be a symptom of needing a lower pressure? I have no idea what it would feel like when the pressure is too high. I will eventually take this matter to my doctor but would like input from other cpap users in the meantime. Thanks. 1 Love my cpap 2006-09-22
Something awful has happened to my CPAP machine, but I'm not sure what it is. For about a week now, when I use it, I get an overwhelming sense of tasting something metallic and acidic in my mouth, and this taste stays with me throughout the day and night. My first reflex is to gag, I begin salivating heavily, and an upset stomach follows. I have had my machine for five years now, and this is the first time anything like this has happened. Does anyone know what might be happening to it? It has grown so uncomfortable that I'm convinced I need to take it to the specialists and have them check it out... 3 Uber-Tired 2006-09-05

Use of my full-face mask results in very large bags under the eyes when awakening in the morning. Any known cause/remedy for this? Can it be cause for worry? 1 Pecanbuck 2006-02-13
Does anyone have a suggestion on a humidifier that is easy to open with one hand and just light assist from the second hand. My current RemStar humidifier is almost impossible to open and close with 2 hands and I am facing rotator cuff surgery. The Fisher Payktel(?sp) was hard but not impossible when I had another arm injury, but unfortunately the new CPAP I rec'd was a RemStar. 2 OneHand 2006-02-05
I discovered on this website that cpapstation sells the Fisher & Paykel HC233 with humidifier for $345. My doctor "kindly" provided this exact equipment (and a Puritan Bennett Breeze headgear with nasal pillows) and charged my insurance company$1900. They paid over $1500 (which is why insurance costs so much!), and now he wants me to pay the remaining amount...close to $400! I consider this "enterprise" of his an unethical conflict of interest, and I'm searching for a new doctor. I'm sure many of his patients are even less able than I to pay his exorbitant charges and would be shocked to know that they could get this equipment MUCH more reasonably! Should I report him to the insurance company, local television stations, and/or the medical board...or is this just standard operating procedure? On another note, I have noticed the abbreviation DME used in several posts...could someone tell me what that means? 4 Trudy 2006-01-25
Does anybody know why we're required to have a prescription to buy new filters, hoses and masks for our CPAP machines? I've moved since I had my sleep test, so this means I have to track down my old doctor any time I need new supplies. Also, what happens when he retires or dies (he's older). I'm not asking to change the pressure and I already own my machine (Remstar Plus with humidifier and heater). I just want to keep the machine maintained. I also travel a bit through work, and if I forget to pack spare filters it would be nice to be able to go down to a local medical supply store and buy replacements. With contact lenses the only things covered by the prescription are the lenses themselves; you can buy solutions and cases at any drug store in the country. Why can't we go to a medical supply store to purchase CPAP machine filters, hoses and masks without a script? Do we need to have Congress look into this? 6 Ak_Oosikman 2005-12-28

Does anyone experience swollen nasal membranes after using the CPAP? I feel clear when I wake up but get very stuffy/congested as the day goes on, & it feels like my nasal membranes are swollen. There's no mucus or drainage, just a stuffed-up feeling. I have the Mirage Swift nasal pillow & unit with a built-in humidifier and have been pretty happy with it (much more comfortable than the mask) but this stuffiness has been making me a bit crazy lately. Any suggestions? 3 Snore-less 2005-11-27

Does anyone have problems with gas when using their CPAP machine? I have only been using a machine for a month and 3-4 hours in the the night I am awakened with horrible gas and am wondering if the machine is forcing air in to my stomach. This even happened at the sleep center. If I turn off the machine and pass it then I am fine. If I try the machine again that night I have the same problem in another 2 hours. Any suggestions? 3 karenwoo 2005-04-25
Does anyone else use the Resmed Swift mask system? I use the Med size sleeve and would be willing to swap the Sm or Lg size for a Med. I'll never you them and could use a spare. When you order a new sleeve from the manufacturer, you will receive all 3 sleeves again. What a waste! 1 Skip 2005-04-05
